Description

This tour will show you the city of Casablanca from Marrakech, the largest city in the Maghreb region and the eighth largest in the Arab world. Casablanca has Morocco’s main port and one of the largest financial centers in Africa.

The Old Medina of Casablanca: Once you are in the old walled city, everything is self-explanatory. The city is small enough not to get lost, the streets are relatively wide and the merchants are usually not pushy. If you have not come for the textile or spice market, then wander around the tempting food stalls.

Hassan II Mosque: The most visited highlight of Casablanca is the Hassan II Mosque with its 200-metre-high grand minaret. You cannot miss this mosque, located on the Atlantic coast of Casablanca. The Hassan II Mosque dominates the horizon of sea and land, day and night when it is illuminated by a laser beam. The Mega Mosque, as it is called, is one of the largest mosques in the world: the prayer hall is the size of four football fields and 80,000 worshippers can easily find a seat on the esplanade outside. The architect Michel Pinseau is French. Thousands of Moroccan artisans created the stunning details of this monument that imposes spirituality on the bustling commercial city.

Ain Diab: The other side of big city life is beyond the port, the old medina and the huge new mosque in the suburb of Ain Diab. The coastal road leads to a series of luxury hotels, clubs and seafront resorts. This is where Casablanca residents go in the summer to escape the heat.
